Fiorentina Want To Make History Against Lyon - Alberto Gilardino
Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino is ready for tomorrow's Champions League clash against Olympique Lyon.
Following the match against Parma, there was some doubt as to whether Fiorentina star Alberto Gilardino would be able to take part in tomorrow night's Champions League match against Olympique Lyon.
However the striker, who scored two goals in last weekend's 3-2 defeat to Parma, will be available for the match after getting himself back into shape during today's training.
"I am doing well," he said to Viola Channel, "against Parma I just suffered a knock and now I'm ready to play.
"The three goals I scored last season against them are a nice memory, but they will come here to play for the victory."
The Viola would qualify to the next round with a victory against the French side, who are already through to the last 16.
"We want to achieve a historic objective," Gilardino continued. "It's a fundamental match, we can't wait anymore. Although in the past against Lyon we have not picked up many points..."
The teams also met in the Champions League group stage last season. At the Stade Gerland it finished 2-2, while at the Artemio Franchi Lyon won 2-1.
