Adriano Galliani: Gennaro Gattuso Has Not Asked To Leave Milan
The chief executive has refuted reports that ‘Rino’ has handed in a transfer request. Moreover, he has compared the Rossoneri to Rocky...
The 32-year-old has found his opportunities limited after boss Leonardo switched to a 4-2-3-1 system, and press rumours are suggesting he is prepared to quit the San Siro outfit next January.
“It’s not true that 'Rino' came to the club headquarters and asked to be released,” Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.
“He is injured at the moment and is trying to make a speedy recovery.
“Unfortunately, this formation we are employing allows for only one of [Massimo] Ambrosini, [Mathieu] Flamini and Gattuso to be in the starting XI.”
The offensive tactics of Leonardo made for another topsy-turvy afternoon at the San Siro on Sunday, with Milan eventually edging Cagliari in a 4-3 thriller.
“I would not know which striker to take off: we can’t play without [Alexandre] Pato and Ronaldinho at the moment,” explained Galliani.
“I’d rather win 4-3 than 1-0. We are like a boxer that must lower his guard to hit back. We are like Rocky!”
