Marek Hamsik & Ezequiel Lavezzi Upbeat After Home Draw With Lazio
The Azzurri duo have played down the team’s second stalemate in a row, stating that bad luck was partly to blame for another blank...
Napoli pair Marek Hamsik and Ezequiel Lavezzi have insisted the Partenopei’s second goalless draw on the bounce is not a cause for concern.
After a stalemate at Catania before the international break, Lazio held Walter Mazzarri’s men at the San Paolo on Sunday, but the duo are adamant the Vesuviani will soon revert to their winning ways.
“We didn’t play very well, but we showed great will and determination,” Lavezzi told Sky Sport Italia.
“We were also a bit unlucky. We could have won this match and we needed the three points. But we will now work hard to do well at Parma next Sunday.”
“We tried to win the match, but we didn’t manage it,” added midfielder Hamsik.
“Lazio shut us out and left us little space. We gave our all, but now we must not give up. We have to keep going with the same grit.”
Napoli are still undefeated under Mazzarri, but Sunday’s game further highlighted the shortcomings of the Azzurri front line - first choice duo Fabio Quagliarella and Lavezzi have only mustered five goals between them so far this term.
