Walter Zenga Could Be Sacked - Palermo Director Walter Sabatini

The Rosanero sporting director has tried calling president Maurizio Zamparini, with no luck. Could he be reflecting on his next move?...

After sustaining only a point from the Sicilian derby against Catania, Palermo coach Walter Zenga could be having some restless nights as his future at the helm of the Rosaneri is being pondered.

This is according to club sporting director Walter Sabatini. The team has only claimed two points from four matches, with heavy losses to Inter [5-3] and Bologna [3-1].

"I don't know if Zenga is at risk," Sabatini told Corriere Dello Sport.

"The president [Maurizio Zamaprini] has his phone switched off at the moment, so he is currently thinking hard about the situation.

"Once the president states that he is 'thinking about it', surely the question becomes an open affair.

"Otherwise, he would have said that he was angry and moved on."

As for names of possible replacements, Sabatini was cautious about providing some, rather wanting to wait on his president's decision.

"Tonight is not the time to be giving names," he added. "We will await the decision of Zamparini and go from there, asking the candidates."

Palermo play Reggina in the Coppa Italia midweek, and then face Chievo next weekend in the league.
