Bologna coach Franco Colomba was left to rue missed chances after losing 3-1 to Inter on Saturday night.
His side failed to get going, but they did show signs of hope during the game. Marcelo Zalayeta matched Diego's Milito's goal. But, the Emiliani failed to stop Mario Balotelli and Esteban Cambiasso as they made the game safe for the opposition.
"We tried to play, but we allowed them too much on set pieces and it affected the game," Colomba told Sky Sport Italia after the game.
"We got back into it, but were not unable to do anything. We didn't have the mental strength to try, but we did not give up."
Colomba has no concern in relation to the way his side played, claiming Inter are just too strong.
"Inter are a very strong side. Physically stronger and technically better. They are a very hard team to beat. I don't think we could have done more," added the coach.
"We had a few chances on the counter attack, but the strength of Inter meant we had it hard.
"We need to improve defending set pieces, especially against strong teams."
