The Rosanero player is aiming high...

Palermo defender Mattia Cassani could not hide his excitement after featuring for Italy this week and is eager to earn more caps with La Nazionale.

"It was a very important week for me. Wearing the blue jersey was very exciting and I hope [coach Marcello] Lippi will continue to consider me after these two tests," he told Il Corriere dello Sport.

"Without forgetting the historic group that won the title in Berlin, the national team is open to all and many of us aspire to be in South Africa."

However, the player's immediate concern is towards the Sicilian derby against Catania. Last season, the Rosanero suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat at the hands of their rivals. At the time, Catania was coached by Walter Zenga, who switched sides during the summer.

"We want to forget the four-goal loss last year by putting in a great performance," he continued.

"[Coach Walter] Zenga? We are all with the coach because he's a smart person that knows how to handle a large squad, we hope to prove that fact on Sunday."
