Cristian Ledesma has no plans to go to war with Serie A side Lazio in order to seek the unilateral rescission of his contract with the club, his agent Vincenzo D’Ippolito insisted yesterday.

Press reports had suggested the 27-year-old was prepared to follow in the footsteps of team-mate Goran Pandev, who has started proceedings to sever his ties with the Aquile after being frozen out of the squad at the start of the season.

Ledesma is in a similar situation, after refusing the terms of a new deal, but his representative is still optimistic that the parties will be able to meet halfway.

“There is no fresh news at the moment, but I have put forward my availability to meet with [director of sport Igli] Tare,” D’Ippolito told Lalaziosiamonoi.it.

“Tare called me a few days ago and I am available [to hold discussions], since I am a professional.

“Is Ledesma up for it? That’s not the sticking point. The situation is pretty clear and it’s even pointless to talk about it now.

“Then again, their behaviour is certainly unexplainable. But we keep going. For now, there are no grounds to start legal proceedings as Lazio have reintegrated the player for the training sessions.”
