Gianluigi Buffon Demands Juventus Collect Maximum Points Before Inter Clash
The veteran shot-stopper insists no more mistakes can be made if La Vecchia Signora want to catch the Serie A champions...
Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has asked the Bianconeri to take maximum points in their matches before meeting league-leaders Inter on December 5. The Bianconeri currently trail the San Siro outfit by five points in the standings.
"Before the challenge with Inter, we must obtain full points against Udinese and Cagliari," he suggested to Il Corriere dello Sport.
"I know Udinese lack key players, like my Italy team-mates [Antonio] Di Natale and [Simone] Pepe [who are suspended and injured respectively], but they will not be any less dangerous.
"It is a decisive match for the rest of the league season and we must try to win it. At home we have lost some points and cannot afford any more missteps. Ahead of our match against Inter we need three points from both matches."
Buffon took part in the recent scoreless stalemate against the Netherlands in Pescara, but was sent home early by coach Marcello Lippi.
"The match against the Netherlands allowed us to take another step towards preparing for the World Cup and for me to collect my 100th cap for the Azzurri," he continued.
"I'll watch my team-mates tonight [Wednesday] against Sweden and I am sure they will do well."
