Napoli wing-back Christian Maggio has urged his club side to consider splashing the cash for recent Italy debutant Antonio Candreva.

The player has impressed at Livorno this season, reportedly attracting a number of suitors from Serie A and the English Premier League.

"In the week we have trained together I must say that I have been star struck by Antonio," revealed the 27-year-old to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"He is young, but moves like a veteran. Among other things he can play multiple roles in midfield and also showed great personality on his debut against the Netherlands in Pescara.

"If Napoli could sign him it would be a huge boost."

Candreva and Maggio are both expected to be in the starting XI against Sweden this evening for the friendly match in Cesena.
