Liverpool Full-Back Andrea Dossena Will Return To Italy In January - Agent
The Italian has seemingly had enough of sitting on the bench...
The agent of Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena has revealed that his client wants to return to Serie A during the winter transfer window.
The former Udinese player moved to Liverpool in the summer of 2008, but has not settled in at Anfield and has been sparsely used by coach Rafa Benitez. He was excluded from the squad's Champions League list for the current campaign and has only made one substitute appearance in the Premier League.
"I have spoken plenty, but officially there is nothing yet. The market opens in January. The will of Andrea to return to Italy is now clearly established," said Roberto La Florio to RadioKissKiss.
"At Liverpool, he was not given a lot of space, also for physical reasons. This summer there was every reason for him to move to Napoli, but [previous sporting director] Pierpaolo Marino did not act."
There is also speculation that Roma are interested in obtaining the player.
"I haven't had any direct contact. I hope Liverpool will consider giving up Dossena on loan with a right to purchase, he wants to regain his place [in the Italy squad] for the World Cup," he concluded.
