Fabio Quagliarella Sets The Bar High For Napoli
The hitman says that joining his hometown club was a dream come true. He hopes to restore the Azzurri to their former glory...
Napoli star striker Fabio Quagliarella has put the controversy surrounding his outburst after being substituted during a goalless draw with Catania behind him and is now hoping to kick-start his campaign after an inconsistent beginning.
The 26-year-old was omitted by Italy boss Marcello Lippi for the friendly matches with the Netherlands and Sweden. He insists, however, that he is just happy to be finally wearing the Napoli shirt and is eager to help the Vesuviani up the table.
“Returning home after 13 years was a dream come true,” he told the Corriere dello Sport.
“Now I hope to score plenty of goals and give much satisfaction to our fans. We are trying to reach important targets.”
Boss Walter Mazzarri has reversed the Partenopei’s fortunes after taking over from Roberto Donadoni last month and is still undefeated after his opening five games in charge.
“He is a very fiery tactician and has brought a lot of grit and character into the team,” explained ‘Quaglia’.
