Bari’s Edgar Alvarez Promises To Score Against Former Club Roma

The Honduran international will meet his old team-mates next weekend…

Bari-Rimini - Serie B (Grazia Neri)
Bari have had a magnificent start to life in Serie A, having been defeated just twice in the opening 12 rounds of matches, to comfortably sit in the top half of the standings.

The Galletti have conceded just seven goals to date – the best record in the league – however next weekend they are set to do battle with the high scoring Roma, who have one of the most potent strike forces in the competition.

Irrespective of this though, former Giallorossi player Edgar Alvarez, who will play against his old team-mates for the first time in Biancorossi colours, has assured his club’s supporters that he will score when the two sides meet in the Italian capital.

“I have no vendetta against Roma, as I was fortunate enough to play with them in the second year of my career in Italy,” Alvarez explained to Corriere dello Sport.

“I only played a little there, and I wasn’t able to prove myself, but next weekend I will make my mark at the Stadio Olimpico, by scoring against Roma.”

The Honduras international went on to discuss his thoughts about the upcoming clash itself, as well as his side’s ambitions this season.

He continued, “Our goal will always be surviving the drop, but for now we are doing well and you just have to look at the table to understand that.

“Do not forget that Roma will always be Roma. They have a great history and tradition, so it will be definitely a great game.

“For us, it definitely will not be though, so we will need to play as we have been doing thus far.”
