Corinthians Striker Ronaldo Intends To Retire In 2010

The Brazilian legend is considering hanging up his boots, but has not made any decisions yet...

Corinthians ace Ronaldo cannot stop scoring for his new side
Corinthians striker Ronaldo has sensationally revealed that his career could be coming to a close.

The 33-year-old has suffered a number of serious injuries throughout his career, and the prolific Brazilian has admitted that the numerous operations are starting to take their toll on his body.

"So many wonderful things are happening, but my intention is to end with football in 2010," he told Estadao TV.

"But I don't want to lose all the affection that the Brazilian fans have given me since I came back. And as a result I'm very confused...

"It's a difficult decision, but my body is calling me. I have had years of suffering, injuries, training, physiotherapy - an incredible story. Now I need a bit of rest."

Ronaldo has scored 22 goals in 35 games in all competitions for Corinthians, who he signed for in December 2008. Many fans are petitioning Dunga to recall him to the Brazil squad for the World Cup, and Ronaldo dreams of one last hurrah.

"Now I would like to win the World Cup with Brazil," he concluded.

The Brazilian has won a host of trophies with the likes of Barcelona, Inter and Real Madrid, as well as winning the World Cup in 1994 and 2002. He has also been named FIFA World Player of the Year on three occasions and won the Ballon d'Or twice in a remarkable career.
