Milan, Barcelona & Chelsea For The Champions League - Gianni Rivera
The legendary former Rossoneri playmaker believes all three Serie A sides have a chance in the Champions League. However, he has pinpointed threats from abroad too...
Legendary Milan midfielder Gianni Rivera believes Leonardo's men have what it takes to reconquer the European scene and win the Champions League. The 1970 World Cup finalist can also see major threats from Premier League giants Chelsea and reigning champions Barcelona.
The Rossoneri are enjoying their return to the continental big time, leading Group C from Real Madrid due to a better head-to-head record against the Spanish side.
"I think Milan are the favourites to get to the final in Madrid, but watch Inter and Juventus too. The Bianconeri are a complete squad," Rivera told Sportmediaset.it.
"Milan just need some consistency in terms of their physical strength. They have the quality to do well, especially with Ronaldinho. He has no rival in the world game. His ball work is precious.
"Inter have a good squad and character. Juventus will have [Alessandro] Del Piero back. He is always a genius."
The 66-year-old also glanced over at the competition coming from elsewhere.
"Chelsea are very dangerous. They have the best defence in England, as well as [Carlo] Ancelotti as coach. Also, [Didier] Drogba, [Frank] Lampard and [John] Terry are all incredible," added the Italian.
"Barcelona are also up there, but they need to be more consistent. They lose games they ought to win. Maybe [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic and [Lionel] Messi need to integrate better."
Champions League action resumes on November 24 and 25.
