Milan have been in sensational form in recent times, having rejoined the top four with a string of convincing performances. Undoubtedly one of their revelations this term has been Ignazio Abate, who the club signed for the second time from Torino in the summer.

The defensive minded player celebrated his 23rd birthday yesterday, and took some time out to reflect on his career to date.

“It feels like yesterday when I started playing for Napoli, but time passes so quickly, even for me,” Abate explained in an interview with the Milan Channel.

“In recent years, I have experienced a lot around Italy, and I’m glad I did this, because everything that I have done has made me a more mature person and player.

“The most important thing is that I am now back at Milan, and I feel very proud to wear this shirt.”

Abate went on to briefly discuss his side’s consistent improvement, which, as previously mentioned, as seen them jump to third place in the standings.

He added, “We’re proving our quality, and we hope to continue on this road.

“We’ve overcome our difficult period, and now we have every chance of doing very well in the league.”
