AC Milan midfielder Ignazio Abate has hailed Brazilian team-mate Ronaldinho, and has urged him to keep up the match winning work

The Brazilian ace has blossomed into fine form under Leonardo's new attacking approach after a relatively slow start to the campaign. Abate believes his colleague can make the difference when it comes to winning points and trophies.

"He is a really good guy, he has a big heart and he is very sociable. We always talk," Abate told Milan Channel.

"He is doing really well at the moment and we hope he continues to improve. He is the type of player that can help win a game on his own."

The Rossoneri are beginning to climb back up the Serie A table, and the Italian star, who celebrates his 23rd birthday today, knows the summit is still within reach.

"We have important matches when we return and we have to ensure we close the gap with the leaders. We have every chance of doing it," added the Italian.

"There is still a long way to go though, we just have to try and gain as much points as we can."
