Cesare Prandelli Set To Sign Three-Year Contract Extension With Fiorentina - Report
The Viola are accelerating the deal after the Italian Football Federation hinted that he would be Marcello Lippi's replacement next summer...
According to Sportmediaset, Giancarlo Abete, the president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), has been on the lookout for candidates to replace Marcello Lippi as Italy coach after next summer's World Cup finals.
One of the coaches in question is Fiorentina's Cesare Prandelli, and the club are now eager to secure him to a long-term deal in order that they are duly compensated if he leaves.
Prandelli's current deal, worth €1.8 million per year, expires in 2011, and the Gigliati are drawing up a contract that would tie the 52-year-old tactician to the club until 2014.
There are not thought to be any issues that would prevent the tactician from putting pen to paper in the coming weeks.
Prandelli is currently the longest-serving coach in Serie A, as well as the longest in Fiorentina's history, having been in place since 2005.
