Champions League Is More Important Than Serie A For Milan - Adriano Galliani

Becoming champions of Europe is more important than being crowned kings of Italy in Galliani's eyes. In addition, he envisages Klaas-Jan Huntelaar remaining at the club beyond January...

Milan vice president Adriano Galliani has admitted that, while catching Inter at the top of the Serie A table is important, he would rather see the Rossoneri lift the Champions League trophy in the Santiago Bernabeu next May.

"There are no doubts - given the choice, we would prefer to become champions of Europe," he affirmed in an interview with Studio Sport.

Galliani was continually pressed about Milan's potential activities in the transfer market in January.

With the exception of a brief statement on unsettled striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, the vice president was unwilling to divulge much information and was even less forthcoming on the topic of contracts.

"Huntelaar will not leave in January. He will be kept, like everyone else in the squad," Galliani stated.

"Two months ago, it was [Dida] who was squandering the club's money through his contract. So I don't want to talk about contracts. That also goes for the question about Filippo Inzaghi.

"Milan will play politics, and at the end the fans will see and they will judge. Now I'm not talking about the transfer market," he concluded.

Inzaghi and Dida are among those who are out of contract with the Rossoneri at the end of the season. The club are not expected to renew the contracts of either Flavio Roma or Giuseppe Favalli - the other two players in question.
