According to a report in today’s edition of the Corriere dello Sport, the honeymoon between Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini and coach Walter Zenga is already over.

And the fiery patron is allegedly poised to swing the axe on the former goalkeeper if the Rosanero fail to put bitter Sicilian rivals Catania to the sword when they meet at the Stadio Barbera after the international hiatus.

Zamparini is well-known for his trigger-happy ways in the peninsula and has ushered in 29 different tacticians between Venezia, the club he owned until 2002, and Palermo.

And it is suggested that the entrepreneur has already approached Delio Rossi to enquire after his availability to relocate to Sicily.

Rossi has been unemployed since leaving Lazio at the end of last season, after leading the Aquile to victory in the Coppa Italia.

Palermo have made an inconsistent start to the season, despite a high-profile summer transfer campaign.

The Rosanero are without a win in their last three outings and slipped to their fourth defeat of the Serie A campaign at the hands of relegation struggler's Bologna last weekend.
