VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Italy Midfielder Daniele De Rossi Tips England For World Cup Glory
Daniele de Rossi speaks exclusively to Goal.com...
Which national team is your favourite to win the World Cup in South Africa?
“I can think of England, because of what they showed during the qualifying stage. They did exceptionally well and have, as usual, very strong players. They could be mature enough to win. Besides, they have an Italian coach at the helm who is accustomed to winning.”
What is Capello’s secret?
“Well, he must know how to communicate by now and what to do in the dressing room. He has been a coach for many years and a winning one at it. No-one could teach him anything.”
Did you expect such an impact on England?
“Yes, because I know his charisma, his mentality and his professionalism. Then again, to win the World Cup is a completely different matter…”
Can the Italy national team do without Totti, Cassano and Amauri?
“These are all players who, except for Amauri, have already played a part in the Nazionale in the past. Amauri is an excellent player who could become Italian – or he already is, I’m not sure. They are all great players who could give the Nazionale a great hand, one way or another.”
How is your relationship with the Internet?
“I use it from time to time, particularly when I am in a training camp. I can chat with my friends, but I’m no hacker…”
How do you get fired up prior to the games?
“I don’t do anything in particular. I listen to a little music and I chat with my team-mates. It is just routine after so many years.”
What kind of music do you have in your iPod?
“A little bit of everything, ranging from the roman ballads to the pop music.”
How do you spend your time off and what is the most annoying thing in Rome?
“As long as I am with my daughter, I feel fine during my spare time. I hate… the fact that Roma is trafficosa (has a lot of traffic), as I use to say. I hate staying in the car.”
