Napoli Midfielder Walter Gargano Cleared To Answer Uruguay Call-Up
The 25-year-old has been given the green light to join his national side to face Costa Rica...
Uruguay boss Oscar Tabarez can breathe a sigh of relief as Napoli midfield star Walter Gargano will be available for the crunch World Cup play-off tie against Costa Rica.
It had been suggested that the Partenopei ace had picked up an injury and would be forced to pull out, after limping off with a knee problem during Saturday’s Serie A match with Catania.
But the Vesuviani doctors have allayed those fears, after the midfielder went in for scans yesterday.
“The Uruguayan underwent medical tests that came out negative,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.
“He didn’t sustain any lesions, but only an inflamed knee.
“Gargano will consequently answer the call-up of his national side for the play-off against Costa Rica.
“The Azzurri midfielder will be constantly in touch with Napoli medical staff and his conditions will be evaluated on a daily basis.”
