Inter’s Stankovic Hails Roma, But Blames Fatigue On Drawn Result
The midfielder felt that the outcome was a fair one on the night…
Mirko Vucinic opened the scoring on 13 minutes for the visiting side; however Samuel Eto’o put the hosts level just three minutes into the second half, to ensure that they took a point away from the clash.
Despite their failure to win, the man of the match – as voted by Sky Italia – Dejan Stankovic, felt that it was a fairly balanced contest that deservedly ended all square.
“We played a good game, but sometimes a draw can happen,” Stankovic explained in the post-match interview.
“We were under pressure by Roma in the first half, and the goal scored by Vucinic was spectacular, but also a little bit lucky.
“In the second half though, we were more spirited, but could only manage one goal to record a draw.
“Roma are always very tough to play at the San Siro, and they are a great team, even without a couple of players, including [Daniele] De Rossi, who left the field during the match.”
The Milanese outfit have had a very heavy schedule of late, having recently returned from their travels to Livorno and Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League midweek.
“Were we tired? I think it is quite normal to feel a little bit tired, and this certainly affected us in this match,” he concluded.
