Despite the Giallorossi’s poor start to the season, the result was definitely not a shock, as the Nerazzurri have failed to defeat the capital club at their home fortress since February 2005.
Nevertheless, the performance was not enough to satisfy Jose Mourinho, who was furious with his players’ efforts on the night.
“We were very poor tonight, and in fact, all three teams out there (referees included) were quite bad,” Mourinho angrily told Sky.
“One team did everything to win (Inter), another did not want to win (Roma), and the third were booed all night (the referees).”
Mourinho went on to speak about the result itself, which he was surprisingly pleased about.
He continued, “The result is not a problem, as it is normal between two top teams, so there is no drama there.
“They are a quality opponent, and they needed to win, so I knew it would be difficult for us. In the second half, I feel we did enough to win, but in a bad game like this, no one deserves to win.”
Just as it seemed as if the Portuguese boss was calm, he reacted furiously at a question regarding his attacking starlet Mario Balotelli.
He added, “Balotelli? His performance tonight was close to a zero. He had little movement and did little work for the team. He could have done a whole lot more.”
