Catania President Pulvirenti Keeps Faith In Coach Gianluca Atzori

The Etnei chief has insisted the tactician’s job is safe after yesterday’s draw with Napoli.

Catania President Antonino Pulvirenti has no intention of parting with coach, Gianluca Atzori following their brilliant display against Napoli.

Catania ended a run of three straight defeats in Serie A yesterday by holding the in-form Campani to a goalless draw at the Massimino.

The Elefanti bossed the game for large spells but their dominance went unrewarded, as their strikers missed a host of gilt-edged chances, and Pulvirenti has vowed to stick with the embattled tactician.

“You should tell me which president would sack his own coach after a game like this,” he explained on Sky Sport Italia.

“We played a perfect game and goals were the only thing we lacked.”

Catania had been linked with a number of tacticians over the past few days, namely Sinisa Mihajlovic.

“I can’t deny anything,” added Pulvirenti. “It’s only normal that a president starts looking around during a difficult moment.

“But now we’ll continue this way. We must hang on and get out of this dark period.”
