There Are No Easy Games In Serie A – Genoa Coach Gian Piero Gasperini

The Grifoni tactician is not underestimating bottom of the pile Siena...

Genoa coach Giampiero Gasperini is planning to lead his side into the Champions League this season
As his Genoa side return to the championship, after a confidence boosting victory over Lille in the Europa League midweek, coach Gian Piero Gasperini has warned there are no easy games on the peninsula, as the Grifoni prepare to meet bottom-of-the-table Siena.

“There are no easy games in the Serie A championship,” declared the coach to Corriere dello Sport.

“It must be said, however, if we secure victory on Sunday we will make an important leap forward in the standings.”

Despite the euphoria following the victory in Europe, Gasperini was quick to remember the manner in which the Bianconeri surprisingly brought down the Ferraris with an emphatic 3-1 victory just two seasons ago.

“We are up against a Siena side that has virtually has nothing to lose with the odds already stacked against them. They are propping up the table but this is a year in which two victories can immediately turn around a side’s fortunes.

“They are fast on the counter-attack, and we must forget the manner in which they burnt us two years back. Thankfully we have a good memory, and we won’t take their current problems for granted.”
