The soap opera involving Palermo midfielders Fabio Simplicio and Mark Bresciano appears to be inching towards its conclusion.

According to Tuttopalermo.net, the club have made their final contract offers to the duo, who are both out of contract next summer. They would receive around €700,000-per-year until 2012, but neither player are content with the deal.

In recent days, both Simplicio and Bresciano have publicly stated their intention is to remain in Sicily. However, the club are not willing to budge on their final offer and have told the pair they must accept the offer on the table by December 30.

Should either player refuse to ink the contract, they would be free to leave from January 1, when they are able to negotiate with other clubs. The decision is now firmly in the hands of the players themselves.

Simplicio and Bresciano were both signed by Palermo in the summer of 2006, and it may be that they also depart the club simultaneously.
