The decision by the Court of Arbitration in Sport to postpone the transfer embargo inflicted by FIFA on Chelsea, until the appeal is heard, potentially allows the club to recruit when the winter window opens.

Consequently, the Blues have been linked with a number of Europe's biggest names.

The influential Roman Daniele de Rossi is a target for the Stamford Bridge side, according to The Telegraph, who estimate that Roman Abramovich is willing to depart with up to £50 million in order to lure the battling midfielder away from the Serie A side.

The same broadsheet indicates that Feyenoord attacker Jonathan de Guzman is also on the wish list of Italian tactician Carlo Ancelotti.

De Guzman has been scouted by Hans Gilhaus this season, who has been impressed by the potency of the 22-year-old, recommending the player to Chelsea management who have now made a formal offer to the Eredivisie club.

Attack appears to be the department that the British press believe Chelsea will primarily bolster when the transfer window reopens, as the Daily Mail reveals moves for Sergio Aguero and Marek Hamsik.

The Mirror, on the other hand, believes AC Milan's prized youngster Alexandre Pato is at the forefront of the west London club's plans.
