Report: Fiorentina Star Adrian Mutu Out For A Month With Knee Injury
The Romanian will undergo surgery this morning and is expected to be sidelined for around 30 days...
Serie A side Fiorentina have been dealt a heavy blow with news that striker Adrian Mutu could miss up to a month of action after damaging the meniscus in his right knee during Wednesday’s 5-2 demolition of Debrecen in the Champions League.According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 30-year-old will go under the knife at a clinic in Florence this morning and is hoping to make his comeback for the home clash with Atalanta on December 6.It is suggested that Mutu picked up the injury just 30 minutes into the match with the Hungarian side, but played on until the final whistle.Mutu only made 19 league appearances last term after undergoing surgery twice, but still managed 13 goals. He also netted the opener against Debrecen to climb into tenth place in the club’s all-time goal-coring chart with 58 goals to his name.Viola patron Diego Della Valle has wished the former Chelsea man a speedy recovery, but stopped short of saying the club will look for reinforcements next January.“I hope Mutu will get back soon,” he said. “We will talk about the transfer market, but you should ask my brother Andrea about it…”Vince Masiello, Goal.com
