Fiorentina Star Adrian Mutu Requires Knee Surgery
The Romanian international will need an operation once again, though it is unclear how much football he will miss...
The 30-year-old scored during Wednesday evening's 5-2 demolition of Debrecen in the Champions League, but he also picked up an injury.
"Adrian Mutu has suffered an injury to the medial meniscus on the knee opposite to the one that was operated on [earlier this year], during the course of the match last night [Wednesday]," read the club's statement.
"The athlete will undergo surgery within the next few days."
There was some good news for the Viola. Defender Alessandro Gamberini's knock was not as bad as initially feared and he will return to action in three weeks.
It is not yet known how long Mutu will remain on the sidelines. The former Chelsea star has four goals in 11 appearances in all competitions for the Viola this season.
