President Jean-Claude Blanc and sporting director Alessio Secco maintain that Diego is being “scientifically” targeted by opponents...

Juventus directors are adamant there is one major explanation for the inconsistent displays of star midfielder Diego.
The 24-year-old has flattered to deceive in recent weeks, after a superb start to life in Italy, but President Jean-Claude Blanc insists he is constantly being prevented from showing his true colours.
“He was fouled ten times in the game with Maccabu Haifa,” he is quoted as saying in Tuttosport.
“That must not be allowed. They must do something about it. The referees should be using their whistles more. A player like him must be protected as he guarantees to entertain fans.
“He has been ill-treated in one too many games and can’t express his best football. He can’t be fouled so often and the officials must protect him more,” argued Blanc.
And director of sport Alessio Secco has also added his voice to the claims.
“I get the feeling that certain sides, like Maccabi on Tuesday night, set about to foul him scientifically," he stated.
“First he is felled by one player, then by another and then by a different one. This way they escape yellow cards that should deter such behaviour. All number 10's should get more protection.”
