Napoli Boss Walter Mazzarri: No Rift With Fabio Quagliarella
The tactician has explained his decision to omit the striker last weekend, totally rejecting rumours that there has been a fall-out...
Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri is adamant that misfiring striker Fabio Quagliarella will soon rediscover his best form.
Italy international Quagliarella is struggling to kick into gear at hometown club Napoli following his summer move from Udinese.
The 26-year-old has barely contributed to the Vesuviani’s stellar performances in recent weeks and was benched last Saturday in Turin as the Azzurri came from two goals behind to defeat Juventus 3-2.
“Quagliarella proved decisive against Bologna and only missed a penalty at Fiorentina because of a great save from [Sebastien] Frey,” Mazzarri explained to NapoliMagazine.com.
“He has yet to hit top form and this rest will help him recuperate. Besides, he did very well when he came on.
“He is not sharp and reactive when he sprints, but he will get down to work with the fitness coach, just like the rest of the squad. There is no ‘Quagliarella-gate’.”
