Inter chief executive Ernesto Paolillo has described Michel Platini's debt claims as excessive and unnecessary.

UEFA's president suggested the Nerazzurri were a club in debt during an interview with the Daily Telegraph.

Inter responded with a statement, claiming they were not in any debt. Paolillo has now added his own voice of discontent, claiming Platini made a mistake in his judgements.

"It was an excessive affirmation to which we immediately responded," Paolillo told Radio Radio TV.

"Inter are not in debt with the banks. Inter, like many Italian teams have had a negative balance, but has always covered itself with capital made available by the club's owners.

"Platini would be wise to study our books and compare them with others. If he wants to talk he can talk about being self sufficient, but he didn't do that. He spoke about debt in our regard, and that was wrong. However, we replied straight away."
