Lazio will be hoping to put an end to a woeful run of results in Serie A, where they haven't won in over two months, as they travel to face bottom club Siena today in a must-win game.
In a bid to stop the rot, coach Davide Ballardini is likely to employ a three-man attack, according to Goal.com Italia, as his predecessor Delio Rossi frequently did, although now new purchase Julio Cruz will play instead of Goran Pandev with Mauro Zarate and captain Tommaso Rocchi occupyng the other two slots.
Goals are necessary for the team to get out of its slump, but so far they have scored just seven in ten games. Even worse, the last time that a goal was scored by a striker was the one Zarate netted against Palermo in late September.
It's from the Argentinean striker in particular that Lazio expected more, especially after president Claudio Lotito made such an important investment for him last summer. So far he has scored just five goals in 15 matches, and just two in Serie A, a less than impressive ratio given his ambitions to earn a spot in Argentina's World Cup squad.
