Sampdoria suffered only their second defeat of the campaign midweek, as they were smashed 5-1 by a determined Juventus side, who managed to leapfrog the Blucerchiati into second place in the standings.

The Bianconeri’s dominant display has certainly sent a message out to Inter and all of their other rivals in Serie A, whilst it also impressed the Samp hitman Giampaolo Pazzini, who believes that the Old Lady will challenge for the Scudetto this term.

“Juventus have proven that they are a great team, so they will certainly be aspiring to win the Scudetto this season,” Pazzini affirmed in an interview with the club’s official website, Sampdoria.it.

“Along with AC Milan, Juve have the quality to win the championship, so they will make it very tough for Inter.

“The formation used by [the Juventus coach Ciro] Ferrara was difficult to play against, as they played a fast game, meaning that their success was never in question.

“We were not able to express ourselves at our usual level, but I don’t think that was our fault, rather because of how good our opponents were.”

‘Pazzo’ grabbed the consolation for the Blucerchiati on the night, to add to his goal scoring tally this season.

He added, “My goal was just a little satisfaction for a disappointing evening. Again, we played our normal game, but our opponents were simply too strong for us.”
