According to reports in Italy, Udinese are keeping tabs on Penarol's Matias Aguirregaray.
The 20-year-old starred for Uruguay in the South American Under-20 Championships and the Under-20 World Cup earlier this year, and looked set to join Pasquale Marino's side in the summer.
Itasportpress are now reporting that the Zebrette are back in the race for the right-back, and could sign him for €4 million in January.
However, Juventus and Fiorentina have also been linked with the youngster in the past few weeks.
Udinese are famed for having an excellent scouting network in South America, and have brought a number of talented youngsters through their ranks in recent years.
One of the more successful players to have come through the system is Alexis Sanchez, who was signed from Chilean side Cobreloa in 2006, and he recently put pen to paper on a new deal with the Zebrette.
