Felipe Melo's presence against Sampdoria is in serious doubt as his left ankle shows no signs of improvement.

According to Tuttosport, the Juventus midfielder is unlikely to play from the start. Instead, Ciro Ferrara is likely to field Mohamed Sissoko alongside Christian Poulsen.

Melo was included in Ferrara's squad on Tuesday, but the very latest reports from Turin indicate he will sit out the game against Sampdoria.

It's not what Ferrara had wanted against a Samp side who are firing on all cylinders at the moment.

The coach is already without Martin Caceres, Jonathan Zebina, Tiago, Claudio Marchisio, Alessandro Del Piero and Hasan Salihamidzic. He has only 19 players available for the game.

Juventus can leapfrog 'Doria into second place with a win this evening.
