Francesco Totti has reassured the Roma fans he will make a rapid recovery from his latest injury lay-off and will manage to join the Serie A 200-goal club by the end of the current campaign.

The 33-year-old striker underwent surgery on his right knee yesterday for the second time in 18 months.

Totti had part of his meniscus removed and is expected to return to action in between 15-20 days, but before leaving the Villa Stuart clinic, he smiled: “I’ll be back soon to score goals, perhaps even next Sunday…

“I feel fine and everything went okay,” he added, more seriously.

Totti has netted 184 goals in Serie A and has vowed to equal former Italy international Roberto Baggio’s tally of 205 before the end of this season.

“Yes, that is still my objective,” he admitted to LaRoma24.it.

“Will I do that this term? Of course…”
