Alberto Fontana Happy In Retirement; Denies Interest In Joining Roma Or Parma
The ‘keeper is thoroughly enjoying the retired life…
Alberto Fontana is currently unattached, after his contract expired with his former club Palermo in the summer.
After expressing his discontent with his lack of playing time with the Sicilian outfit last season, due to the arrival of Marco Amelia from Livorno, Fontana was strongly linked with a move to Roma, to act as the back-up to Doni.
According to reports over the past few months, the Giallorossi are still said to be interested, as well as the newly promoted Parma side, rumours that were confirmed by the goalkeeper in a recent interview.
“I accepted to speak with only Roma and Parma, and both those clubs made me think about the possibility of returning,” Fontana stressed in an interview with Mediterraneonline.it.
“If I had wanted to continue playing football, I could have played in Serie A with either one of those teams, but I decided to reject them.
“At the moment, I am in Palermo on vacation with my family, where we are fine and living very happily.
“I have to count my blessings for having had the opportunity to play football though, but like anything, one day it ends.
“It was a great part of my life, but now I will walk away quietly, and look forward to spending time with my family.”
