Tonight Inter won an important match against Catania 2-1 and retained the top spot in the Serie A table, putting the disappointing performance against Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League behind them.

One of the best players for Inter was certainly veteran defender Ivan Cordoba, who replaced the suspended Walter Samuel.

"It's important to be always ready, and to work well during the week no matter what," Cordoba said after the match to Sky.

"Today it went well, the important thing was the victory, as well as giving a good performance."

Asked if after tonight's performance the Champions League disappointment is forgotten, he said: "Matches like this must help us remind what we have to do in the Champions League as well. But we cannot only think about that, we must have the same focus in the league."

On Mario Balotelli, who was recently criticised again by coach Jose Mourinho, Cordoba said: "I think the coach says those things to push Mario, he is a very explosive lad, his behaviour can still improve.

"He has great quality, we know that, but the coach says that those who train well during the week are more likely to do well during the match, and that goes for everyone, not just Mario."
