As Bari prepare to welcome a struggling Lazio side to the San Nicola on Sunday, coach Giampiero Ventura was certainly not putting too much stock in the Aquile’s current league position, given the quality of the personnel they have available to them.

“Given the players Lazio can afford to leave on the bench, we will have to compete with a side of undoubted quality tomorrow afternoon,” he declared to Datasport.

“[Mauro] Zarate is just one example that, if I were the president of Barcelona, I wouldn’t think twice about buying him. However, I think with the right level of humility, even my Bari side will be able to have its say tomorrow and give [Davide] Ballardini’s men something to think about," added Ventura.

“We will go out there to play on par with the opposition, and if we produce a good performance I would be ready to settle for a share of the spoils.”
