The stopper believes that good luck has had a role to play as he slowly closes in on 150 back-to-back showings for the Nerazzurri...

Inter captain Javier Zanetti has revealed the secrets behind his incredible 138 consecutive match run.

The Argentine, who is set to start Saturday night's game against Catania at the San Siro, will be making his 139th consecutive appearance for his side: a new record.

"You need some luck as well as dedication to your work," Zanetti told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

"Even a temperature can knock you out of action, but it hasn't been like that. I always give my best in training as if it was a Champions League final."

Inter have been struggling in Europe. Their 2-2 draw with Dynamo Kiev during the week has raised questions over their chances of progression, but the veteran is not concerned.

"It's not a mental problem, it's just a competition which is really different. A single error will eliminate you. We are calm though - we will qualify from the group," concluded the Nerazzurro.
