Diego Atalanta's Diego De Ascentis Happy To Be Back
De Ascentis was out of contract until two weeks ago, but Antonio Conte believed he could be useful to the Nerazzurri for the remainder of the season...
Atalanta midfielder Diego De Ascentis marked his return to the club with a goal in his first match against Udinese in an important 3-1 win.
De Ascentis' contract with the Bergamaschi had expired last season and the club opted not to offer him a new deal, but following the change in coach, Antonio Conte said he wanted the veteran to return to the club and promptly re-signed him.
The move proved to be a good one as De Ascentis first handed out an assist and then scored the Nerazzurri's third goal of the match with a right foot volley from over 20 metres to hand his side the first win of the season.
"I'm very happy, because the goal gave importance to the win which Atalanta have been searching for a long time, to change the negative trend of recent results," explained the former Milan player to tuttomercatoweb.com.
"It was surely the best goal I scored in my career, a wonderful satisfaction."
Thanks to this win, Atalanta have moved up from bottom position to 17th place and Conte remains unbeaten since taking over the squad over a month ago.
