Milan’s Alessandro Nesta Is Our Idol – Bari Defensive Duo Ranocchia & Bonucci
The talented young defenders have praised their world cup winning idol.
Bari have made an extremely promising return to Italy’s Serie A, as they have been defeated just once in their opening seven fixtures, and conceded just four goals along the way.
Their defensive record is the equal best in the competition to this point, alongside the fourth placed Fiorentina, and they mainly have their central defensive pair of Andrea Ranocchia and Leonardo Bonucci to thank for this.
The promising players have been exceptional thus far, and consequently have been linked with moves away from the San Nicola stadium, to join the likes of Inter, Juventus, Napoli and even Arsenal.
“This interest flatters us, but we know that we cannot get ahead of ourselves just yet,” Ranocchia stated to Sky.
Bonucci went on to add that they have their idol in Alessandro Nesta to thank, as they have imitated him since they were young children.
“He has always been our idol. When I started to play as a defender, I would always watch his videos to imitate the elegance and class with which he goes about playing the game,” he added.
The duo have a very promising future ahead, and Ranocchia in particular is being touted as a possible addition to Marcello Lippi’s Italy squad for the 2010 World Cup.
