Juventus Ace Felipe Melo Will Show Fiorentina No Mercy
The Brazilian says he will celebrate if he scores against his former club tomorrow night...
Juventus star midfielder Felipe Melo is adamant he will shake off an injury problem in time for Saturday’s visit of Fiorentina and is not afraid of a hostile reception from his former fans in the wake of his €25 million summer switch to the Old Lady.
“There is not a single possibility I won’t play: well, unless [Ciro] Ferrara drops me,” the 26-year-old joked in an interview with La Stampa.
The Gigliati supporters accused Melo of ‘treason’ for joining their bitter Turin rivals. So, will he be seeking some kind of revenge?
“No way,” insisted Melo.
“It is just an important game and the people who said those things were not real fans. I loved it in Florence.
“But if I score a goal and celebrate, I am sure I will not disrespect anyone.”
Juve are without a win since mid-September and stumbled to their first defeat of the season at Palermo before the international break.
“We had probably got carried away subconsciously,” mused Melo, referring to the club's brilliant start to the campaign.
“Now we must buckle down. I still believe we can win the Scudetto.”
