AC Milan defender Massimo Oddo believes his side have the strength to pull together and forge a new era of success in the league - starting against Roma on Sunday night.

The Rossoneri are well aware of the significance that beating Roma will have upon their run. They are seven points adrift of bitter city rivals Inter. The stakes are high, and Oddo knows his side need to play their cards right against the Giallorossi.

"We need a win for morale, the points and everything," Oddo told Milan Channel.

"We cannot hide the fact that we have been going through a difficult period, but I am sure that we can come out of it and work towards a rosy future.

"The game against Roma will be a significant match for me, and I am sure it will be different."

Goals have been hard to come by at the San Siro this term. The Rossoneri have only scored a paltry four goals in seven games. But, the stopper feels the match against Roma can be a springboard to scoring again.

"I don't think it would be right to blame the strikers. If they are not scoring it's because they don't receive the support of the defenders and midfielders," added the former Lazio man.

"It's a team problem, but I think we have the strength to bounce back. We have always been able to come out of negative moments."
