Walter Mazzarri’s Arrival At Napoli Pleases Christian Maggio - Agent
The 27-year-old is happy with the Partenopei's new coach...
Napoli wing-back Christian Maggio has been reunited with Walter Mazzarri, who has taken the reins at the San Paolo, and his agent has revealed that his client could not be happier with the appointment.
"The arrival of Mazzarri can only make Maggio happy," Massimo Briaschi announced to Radio Kiss Kiss.
"He was happy with [Roberto] Donadoni in any case. It's clear, however, that Christian had his best season under Mazzarri," Briaschi continued, reflecting on the duo's time together at Sampdoria.
"If the coach continues playing 3-5-2, he will be able to have a huge asset on the right hand side with Maggio and [Hugo] Campagnaro - his players at Sampdoria.
"Mazzarri will have to be able to make Napoli a team. The squad is ready for the Europa League, but certainly need to make up some ground in Serie A. The qualities of Napoli are not those on show at the moment - a squad with seven internationals cannot stay in the relegation zone."
Maggio has previously been on the fringes of the national side, but his agent stated that the 27-year-old is only concentrating on his club form at present and Marcello Lippi will look after the rest.
"The national team? We talked about it on Monday night. [Being at the World Cup in] South Africa is obviously Christian's objective, as he has been in Lippi's team before. Maggio is motivated, but the coach makes the choices."
