Player Ratings: Lazio 1-1 Palermo

The Rosanero found their first points on the round despite being peppered by an insistent Aquile side. Goal.com rates the players' performance...

Zarate-Miccoli medley (Grazia Neri)
Lazio

Muslera- 4.5: The Uruguayan was rarely called into action for over an hour and should have been better placed to stop Cavani’s shot from a long range.

Lichtsteiner- 6.5: Full of energy going down the flank and had a lot to cope with given the lack of cover from Foggia and Mauri.

Radu- 6: The Romanian coped well at the back considering his lack of playing time in the centre-half role. With Cribari lost for sorts alongside him, Radu offered the side some well needed calm in defence.

Cribari- 4: Clearly lacked in confidence and continued to take risks with numerous last ditch tackles. The Brazilian has been looking slightly out of his depth in recent weeks.

Del Nero- 6.5: The winger was forced to play out of position as a result of Lazio’s defensive crisis and he coped brilliantly for over an hour.

Dabo- 4.5: He gave a good account of himself in the first period, but with the foolishness of some aggressive challenges he often risked a second yellow card.

Baronio- 7: Gave a solid display in the middle of the park and can be proud of the way he is covering the void left by Ledesma.

Mauri- 6: He created numerous chances going forward but should have opened the scoring with a free header just before the break.

Foggia- 7: ‘Il Folletino’ continued where he left off last season and is finally earning the faith of Ballardini. He caused havoc down the right for over an hour, and Palermo’s only answer was to bring him down on numerous occasions.

Cruz- 6: Gave the visitors a number of things to think about during the course of the game but he is defiantly more effective as a super-sub.

Zarate- 7: Could have been a little more generous with his passing but was rewarded for his determination with an equalising goal late on.

Substitutes

Rocchi- 6.5: ‘TommyGol’ gave an added dimension to the Biancocelesti following his late entry and they will be hoping he has put his injury behind him as they look to climb out of a difficult moment.

Matuzalem- N/A: Given a late run out despite suffering from muscle fatigue following the midweek defeat to Parma.

Diakite- N/A: The Frenchman surprisingly came on at the death despite the fact he is carrying an injury. Could have found the winner with a towering header off a late corner.

Palermo

Sirigu- 8 Given a chance as Rubinho struggles and he more than paid for his coach’s faith by making a whole host of outstanding saves.

Cassani- 5.5: The wing-back failed to get forward and was often beaten by the mazy runs of Foggia and Zarate.

Kjaer- 7: The Dane forced the home side to shoot from long range on numerous occasions, and produced a wonderful headed clearance off the line just minutes before the break.

Bovo- 6.5: Like Kjaer he dealt well with Lazio’s attacking trio and used his strength to keep the home side from entering the box.

Balzaretti- 6: Made some good forward runs, but he was far too exposed by Foggia who could have opened the scoring had Sirigu not been on such fine form.

Migliaccio- 6: Gave good cover to the defensive line, but should have done more to push down the flank.

Nocerino- 6.5: The Italian midfielder failed to link the defence with attack and was forced to help out at the back.

Bresciano- 5.5: Not his usual creative self as it wasn’t a day to remember for the Australian.

Simplicio- 7: Definitely the visitors' most creative man going forward and had a golden chance to open the scoring but opted to square the ball to Miccoli.

Miccoli- 5: Usually finds the net at the Olimpico, but it was a difficult afternoon for the pint-sized playmaker who lacked service from the midfield.

Budan- 5: Like Miccoli, he couldn’t really make his mark on the game in the opening period and subsequently made way for Cavani.

Substitutes

Cavani- 7.5: Came off the bench to score what could have been the winner, and showed great courage after only recently shrugging off an injury.

Mchedlidze- 5: Very suspect at the back, but he managed to head the ball onto Cavani for the visitors' goal.

Blasi- N/A: Thrown on late on to add numbers to the wall covering the Palermo box as Lazio threw everything and more in search of a winner.
