Cagliari Is Not A Racist City - President Massimo Cellino
Cagliari president Massimo Cellino talked about the alleged racist chants aimed at Mario Balotelli in yesterday's match against Inter.
Last season Inter starlet Mario Balotelli had to endure some alleged racist chants directed towards him, with Juventus receiving a one-match stadium ban after their fans hurled insults at the teenager at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin.
It was thought the ban would change things for the better in the peninsula, but Balotelli was allegedly the victim of some racist abuse in last weekend's match at Cagliari. However, the Sardinian outfit's president Massimo Cellino doesn't believe Cagliari is a racist city.
"It's wrong to take the whistles and interpret them wrongly," he said to Sky Sport 24. "It was just a small episode that should not be made more important than it is. In Cagliari people aren't racist."
The president followed the match from Miami, and also stated he could not hear the whistles while watching the match on television, which is why it's unlikely that the possibility of a ban on the stadium will be taken into consideration.
