LAZIO

Muslera: 7- Made three big saves in the early going to keep the match scoreless and is turning into a world class keeper right before our eyes. Had no chance on the first goal and was unlucky on the second.

Lichtsteiner: 6- He did not venture into Juve territory as much as he would have liked tonight. Made a mess of the cross that led to Trezeguet’s late goal.

Diakite: 7- The French centre-back was absolutely fantastic tonight and did not put a foot wrong all evening long.

Siviglia: 6- Made an important intervention on Trezeguet near the end of the first half and battled hard against Amauri.

Kolarov: 7.5- Galloped forward on a number of powerful runs and showed off his cannon of a shot in the 20th minute that almost found the back of the net.

Dabo: 6.5- The French midfielder did an admirable job snuffing out Grosso’s runs and patrolled the midfield area with extraordinary zeal.

Baronio: 6- He was a real threat from set pieces as he almost beat Buffon twice in the first half.

Mauri: 6- Thought he had opened the scoring just before halftime but the referee blew his whistle before the ball went into the net because of a foul inside of the area.

Matuzalem: 5- He was supposed to be the creative force for Lazio tonight but was not quite up to the task.

Foggia: 6- He was thrust into a striker’s role tonight due to the injuries upfront and did not look out of place at all.

Cruz: 5.5-‘El Jardinero’ loves to pester the Old Lady and has ten goals against Juventus in his career but it was his foul on Legrottaglie that negated Mauri’s strike. Missed a sitter in the 68th minute that will keep him awake tonight.

JUVENTUS

Buffon: 7- Has turned back the years for both club and country in the last few weeks and his good form continued again tonight with an admirable showing.

Grosso: 6.5- The World Cup hero made his debut for the Old Lady but could not replicate his performances on an international front for the Bianconeri this evening although he did provide a mouthwatering cross for Amauri in the second half.

Legrottaglie: 6- Committed a handful of silly fouls in the first half but rebounded with a solid showing in the second 45 minutes and will be pleased with the clean sheet.

Chiellini: 7.5- He was a pillar of strength at the back as Foggia and Cruz did not even get a sniff at goal. Made a vital intervention in the 66th minute that may well have saved a goal.

Caceres: 6.5- A timid debut for the first 70 minutes by the Barca-owned full-back who had his hands full with the probing runs of Kolarov. Unbelievably opened the scoring with a ferocious shot that left Muslera with no chance.

Marchisio: 6- The future is bright for the Tardelli-esque type midfielder although he will be disappointed with his offensive contribution this evening.

Felipe Melo: 7.5- The Brazilian hardman was a tower of power in the middle of the pitch. Swept up loose balls, made crunching tackles and started numerous counterattacks.

Camoranesi: 5.5- Not a vintage performance as his deliveries into the penalty area were poor to say the least and fell off the radar in the second half and was eventually substituted.

Diego: 6-  The Brazilian maestro was unable to pry open the Lazio defence and to make matter worse his night was cut short due to an injury in the 44th minute.

Trezeguet: 6-  Was handed a starting role by Ferrara and looked a bit rusty tonight. He was wasteful in front of goal as he had two good chances to open the scoring in the first 15 minutes and another one in the 63rd minute. Finally found his goal at the death.

Amauri: 6.5- Played a part in both goals tonight. Worked his socks off upfront for Juve tonight and it was his presence that caused enough chaos in the Lazio penalty area that led to Caceres’ goal.

SUBS

Giovinco: 7- Provided some offensive spark to what was a pretty stale Bianconeri attack for large stretches of the match.

Tiago: 6

Molinaro: NA
