Ciro Ferrara Lauds Diego Following Victory Over Roma

Following a superb display by new arrival Diego, Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara said that it was no surprise to see the Brazilian take centre-stage against Roma at the Olimpico.
“He has already demonstrated his quality in the Berlusconi trophy and the game last week against Chievo,” Ferrara declared to SkySport.
“He has the ability to produce the goods in attack and also give a huge hand at the back in phases of non-possession.”
The Bianconeri coach was then asked why he opted to leave Alessandro Del Piero on the bench for the duration of the game:
“It is normal that some players will sit out at the early phase of the season. Diego will have the chance to play alongside Del Piero after the international break,” he explained.
“The first half was perfect on our behalf, apart from the goal we conceded,” added Ferrara.
“In the second period, it was only natural that Roma would start to throw more players forward and therefore we had to suffer a little in order to take advantage of the counter attack.”
With Juventus sitting on top of the Serie A summit on maximum points, Ferrara was keen to show that he is refusing to get carried away with their impressive start.
“I don’t think the six points are very important at this moment in the season. What this game does give us, however, is the confidence to believe in our abilities and maintain momentum game by game.”
